Pappas and Whitehouse host NH roundtable pushing DISCLOSE Act and dark money disclosure
The roundtable featured Rep. Chris Pappas, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, End Citizens United president Tiffany Muller, and New Hampshire state legislators Alexis Simpson and Connie Lane. They discussed passing the DISCLOSE Act to require donor disclosure for super PACs and dark money groups, criticized Citizens United for enabling billions in outside spending, and linked dark money to fossil fuel influence blocking climate policy and other priorities. Participants highlighted New Hampshire's weak state campaign finance rules including LLC loopholes and outside spending in legislative races. Pappas addressed questions on his AIPAC-related support and a recent poll showing his Senate opponent John Sununu ahead for the first time.
